               to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s
               reunification with China, Hong Kong stations have been
               authorized to use the special prefix VR1Ø in replacement

               by DJ5MR is currently there teaching at the "Butende
               Technical School" near Masaka, 120 km north of Kampala
               City. Activity is expected to be mainly on 40 and 20 meters
               SSB. Most of his activity so far has been on 20 meters on
               various frequencies (mostly 14250 kHz) between 1700-2100z.
               He is only using a dipole and 100 watts. QSL via Albert,

               Special event call sign will be aired to commemorate the
               400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City by Samuel
               de Champlain. Amateur radio mobile units will activate many
               sites marking the passage of Champlain during his first

               from Kabul. He is regularly working for about two hours
               starting around 0830 UTC. His equipment consists of
               a FT-897D with 100 watts and a folded dipole. He has been

               by CT1BXT. His preferred mode is RTTY; for the time being
               he is active on 20 metres with 100 watts and a dipole,
               but he hopes to put up a 5-band beam for 10, 12, 15, 17

               To celebrate the upcoming Beijing Olympic 2008, the
               Equestrian event and the Hong Kong Island Scout Olympic,
               will be active. QSL via VR2HKS.

- 17/9         CHINA; BT1OB, BT1OJ, BT1OH, BT1OY and BT1ON
               Five Beijing Olympic Games special event stations will be
               active from 18 May through 17 September. The five special
               callsigns will represent the five colours of the Olympic
               flag: BT1OB (for Beibei, blue), BT1OJ (for Jingjing, black),
               BT1OH (for Huanhuan, red), BT1OY (for Yingying, yellow) and
               BT1ON (for Nini, green). The QSL manager for all of them

               the Polish base "Henryk Arctowski" on King George Island

               On 15 May the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia
               Commission issued the following special callsigns to
               celebrate 100 Years of Scouting in Malaysia:
               for West Malaysia 9M1CSA, 9M1CSB, 9M1CSC, 9M1CSD, 9M1CSF,
               9M1CSI, 9M1CSJ, 9M1CSK, 9M1CSM, 9M1CSN, 9M1CSP (Penang
               Island, AS-015), 9M1CSR, 9M1CST, 9M1CSW, 9M1CSY and 9M1CSZ;
               for East Malaysia 9M1CSQ and 9M1CSS. They will be used
               especially during JOTA events. The first one (Malaysia
               Jamboree On The Air) was held on 17-18 May, the Asia
               Pacific JOTA and the World JOTA will follow on 2-3 August
               and 18-19 October respectively. The national society
               (MARTS) provides QSL Bureau service to all 9M1CSx stations.

               On 1 January 2008 the official currency of the Republic
               of Cyprus will change from the Cyprus Pound to the Euro.
               To celebrate this historic event, members of the Pafos
               District of the Cyprus Amateur Radio Society will use the
               call C4EURO throughout 2008. Expect activity on the HF and

               directions (Grid Loc. BP64). Altitude is 2500 feet.
               Distance to London is 4200 miles, 4000 to Frankfurt,
               4100 miles to Tokoyo. He will use 800 watts and a big

19/6 - 21/6    HONG KONG; VR2/VK2CCC
               by LY1F (VK2CCC). Activity will be holiday style on CW

20/6 - 6/7     CAYMAN IS.; ZF2BI and ZF2ZD
               By K4BI and K2ZD are planning a major 6 m DXpedition here.
               They will be running an ACOM amp into a 6M5X. Look for
               them on 50.105 MHz. Their beacon will be on 50.095 MHz.
               Emphasis will again be EU, AF, SA and AS, but will of
               course work NA. They will have HF capability but don’t
               plan on being there very much or very often. QSL via

               6/2 m activity by HB9HLM from IM63BM. He will have
               100 watts on 6 m and 500 watts with a 2x7 elements

               from two most wanted IOTA groups, Finger Hill Island
               (NA-194) and Paul Island (NA-205). They intend to be QRV
               for three days from each island, with two stations on the

               that stops at all of these islands. He will take an

               be heading. Activity will include the CQ WW SSB Contest
               and they plan to use T32CXX as a Multi/Single entry in

               Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. He is hoping to
               receive the callsign YN2M for the contest, otherwise
               he will use H7/K9GY. Direct QSLs are "OK" via CBA.

1/3-14/3 2009  EAST MALAYSIA; 9M6 AS-051
               from Pulau Layang Layang, Spratly Islands by a team of six
               operators. Team members so far is 9M6XRO, 9M6DXX, SM5GMZ,
               W5SL and 9V1YC. Activity will be on 10-80 metres CW, SSB
               and RTTY using three stations, two with full legal limit
               linear amplifiers. Callsign to be confirmed and QSL
               information via M3SDE, direct or bureau.

 

IOTA-frequencies

CW:  28040, 24920, 21040, 18098, 14040, 10115, 7030 and 3530.
SSB: 28560, 28460, 24950, 21260, 18128, 14260, 7055 and 3755.

The frequencies are NOT exclusive to IOTA!
IOTA net Saturdays at 1300z on 14260 and Sundays at 1300z on 21260!
