               On 15 May the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia
               Commission issued the following special callsigns to
               celebrate 100 Years of Scouting in Malaysia:
               for West Malaysia 9M1CSA, 9M1CSB, 9M1CSC, 9M1CSD, 9M1CSF,
               9M1CSI, 9M1CSJ, 9M1CSK, 9M1CSM, 9M1CSN, 9M1CSP (Penang
               Island, AS-015), 9M1CSR, 9M1CST, 9M1CSW, 9M1CSY and 9M1CSZ;
               for East Malaysia 9M1CSQ and 9M1CSS.
               They will be used especially during JOTA events. The first
               one (Malaysia Jamboree On The Air) was held on 17-18 May,
               the Asia Pacific JOTA and the World JOTA will follow on
               2-3 August and 18-19 October respectively. The national
               society (MARTS) provides QSL Bureau service to all 9M1CSx
               stations.

- 31/12        CYPRUS; C4EURO
               On 1 January 2008 the official currency of the Republic
               of Cyprus will change from the Cyprus Pound to the Euro.
               To celebrate this historic event, members of the Pafos
               District of the Cyprus Amateur Radio Society will use
               the call C4EURO throughout 2008. Expect activity on the HF
               and VHF bands, SSB, CW and digital modes. QSL via 5B4AGC.

               from Moorea Island. Activity will be holiday style on
               40/30/20 meters using SSB and RTTY. He was heard this past

               They will operate CW, SSB and RTTY on 160-6 metres, with
               an emphasis on Europe and Asia. QSL via home calls.

               by HB9HLM/CN2DX. He states that the special callsign was
               issued to celebrate the end of the year 2008 ("8"), the
               beginning of the year 2009 ("9"") and the New Year ("NY").
               QSL via EA7FTR. He will be active from a beach house along
               with CN8PA and CN2CV/HB9CVC. They will operate 2 stations
               at the same time using an IC-7000 and TS680 with a AL811hcxe
               PA into a windom antenna for 160-10 meters with an extension
               running east-to-west for 30 and 15 m, and another G5RV
               (40-10 m) running north-to-south. Some other CN operators
               will be involved with this callsign from other locations,
               but details are not completely finalized and will be
               forthcoming. This special callsign will be active until

               He intends to concentrate on 17 and 30 metres in this
               holiday style DXpedition using all modes. QSL via WOØZ.

- 4/1          USA; N2OB/150 or N2OB/LH
               on all bands and modes available starting at 00.00 UTC
               on 27 December through 23.59 UTC on 4 January. This will
               be to celebrate the relighting and the 150th anniversary
               of the Barnegat Lighthouse. N2OB/150 stations will be
               operating from various locations around Ocean County.
               Some operations from the lighthouse property may be
               possible and will use N2OB/LH, which will count for
               working the lighthouse and IOTA NA-111. QSL via N2OB,

               from the Miyako Islands. The main QTH will be on Miyako

               commemorate Galileo’s first use of an optical telescope
               and the subsequent discoveries he made in his lifetime.

               San Andres by WF5W, K5UO and HK3CW, including an entry
               in the CQ WW 160-Meter DX CW Contest. After the 160 m
               event they should be on other bands (CW and maybe RTTY)

               to operate on various bands and modes, with monoband beam

               The special callsign will be in use to celebrate Waverley’s

               from Santa Maria Island’s. The operators mentioned are

               and CA6UTF. Activity will be on 80/40/20/15/10 meters

ca 28/1 - 28/2 WALLIS & FUTUNA IS.; FW5RE
               from Wallis Island by HA9RE and a team of operators. The
               group is expected to arrive on the island January 26th.
               Activity will be on 160-10 meters, including 30/17/12
               meters, using CW, SSB and RTTY. Two stations will be on
               the air. Antennas to be used are: a 24 m vertical on
               160/80/40 m, Spiderbeam for 20/17/15/10 m,
               HB9CV for 20-15 m and a 7-band Butternut.

31/1 - 7/2     FALKLAND IS.: VP8DLQ SA-002
               by ON5NT mostly during the local evening hours.

               from Zanzibar by DL7DF and his XYL on holiday, to be
               active on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and SSTV
               as often as possible. His equipment consists of a
               transceiver, a linear TY900, a 18 m Lowband Vertical,

               from Providenciales Island. Activity will include an entry
               in the CQ WW RTTY Contest (February 14-15th).

               from Bogue Banks. Activity will be 160-10 meters using
               CW, SSB and RTTY. He will also participate in the

12/2 - 26/2    DESECHEO I.; KP5
               The Caribbean National Wildlife Refuge Complex has selected
               and announced a team co-led by Dr. Glenn Johnson, WØGJ and
               Bob Allphin, K4UEE. Their plan involves a team of fifteen
               operators and 6-8 stations 160-6 meter for a 14-day
               operation. They will bring several tons of equipment to
               the island including a change of operators on Feb 19.

               by N7OU and W7YAQ, their callsigns still have to be
               confirmed. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, mainly CW,

19/2 - 24/2    VIRGIN IS.; KP2/K3MD
               from St.John’s. His activity will include the ARRL DX CW
               Contest (February 21-22nd) as Single-Op/All-Band/High-Power
               entry. He will be using an IC-7000 (w/ALS-500M/PS-75) into
               an all band 80-10 m trap dipole up 50 feet and a 160 meter
               inverted L. Outside of contest he will operate casually,
               usually working Europe on 20 and 40 meters. QSL via K3MD.

22/2 - 6/3     SEYCHELLES; S79JF AF-024
               from Praslin Island by DL7JAN. Activity will be on
               40-10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and possibly PSK31.

26/2 - 5/3     MAYOTTE; FH/G3SWH and FH/G3RWL AF-027
               their activity will be mainly on 80-10 metres CW. Subject
               to QRN and site conditions, there may be some 160 m CW
               activity, and some RTTY and/or PSK31. They plan to have
               two stations on the air for as many hours every day as

               from South Andros Island. Activity will be holiday style

               from Marigot Bay. Activity will be on 160-6 meters SSB
               using dipoles and 6 m yagi. Also, look for activity in
               the ARRL DX SSB Contest (March 7-8th, 2009).

1/3 - 14/3     EAST MALAYSIA; 9M6 AS-051
               Due to a combination of personal and logistical reasons
               unfortunately it has been necessary to postpone the
               proposed March 2009 Spratly Island DXpedition. It is hoped
               that the DXpedition will go ahead at a later date.

4/3 - 9/3      ST. PIERRE & MIQUELON; FP/KV1J NA-032
               from Miquelon. Activity will be on 80-6 meters using CW,
