We want to be a club that serves all our members, not just a portion of them. Date and time: Wednesday, April 20, 0030Z to 0430Z - or in Eastern Daylight Time - Tuesday, April 19, 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, April 20, 12:30 a.m. General: Work stations only once. Operate CW only, 80 or 40 Meters. Work one of the following 2-hour periods of your choice in the 4-hour time frame: 0030-0230, 0130-0330, or 0230-0430. All licensed amateurs are invited to participate, but only those operating QRP (5 watts or less) are eligible for awards. Any type of key or computer keying can be used, but users of straight keys or bugs are awarded a bonus. Suggested frequencies: 80 Meters: 3.555-3.565 and 3.705-3.715 * for slow speed. 40 Meters: 7.040 to 7.050. Be considerate of FISTS operating on 3.558. * Also check near 3.579 for Color burst crystal QRPp stations. Call: CQ NA Exchange: RST - SPC (State Province or Country) - NAQCC Nr. (non-Members send power level in place of NAQCC Nr., e.g. 5W, 1W, etc. Be sure to add the W.) QSO Points: Member, 2 points. Non-member, 1 point. Multipliers: For USA/Canadian stations: • States and Canadian Provinces - 1 multiplier each. • All countries except USA and Canada - 2 multipliers each. For non-USA/Canada stations: • Your own country - 1 multiplier. • USA states and Canadian provinces - 1 multiplier each. • All other countries except USA/Canada and your own - 2 multipliers each. Extra Bonus: If you use only a straight key for the entire sprint, multiply your final score by 2. If you use only a bug for the entire sprint, multiply your final score by 1.5. Special Categories: Each month we will try to have a "special category". This month’s special category will include a certificate awarded to the top score made with a rig more than 25-years old. An award will also be issued to the top score using milliwatt power. Scoring Example: You worked the following: 14 members (2 pts each) = 14 × 2 = 28 QSO points 6 non-members (1 pt each) = 6 × 1 = 6 QSO points That’s 28 + 6 = 34 QSO points Those contacts came from: 8 USA states (1 mult each state) = 8 × 1 = 8 mults 2 Canadian provinces (1 mult each province) = 2 × 1 = 2 mults 1 XE, 2 EA8’s & 1 DL6 (2 mults each country) = 3 × 2 = 6 mults That’s 8 + 2 + 6 = 16 mults Now simply multiply QSO points × multipliers: 34 × 16 = 544 points Did you use? Straight Key - then multiply 544 × 2 = 1088 as your final score Bug - then multiply 544 × 1.5 = 816 as your final score Neither - then 544 is your final score Log and Summary Info: Log must contain one line for each QSO containing the following info: YOUR CALL - QSO NUMBER - TIME - STATION WORKED - HIS SPC - HIS NR OR POWER - INDICATION OF A NEW SPC (# OR SPC NAME) - POINTS (2 OR 1) Example: Call Nr Time Stn SPC Num Mul Pts K3WWP 1 0130 KB3LFC PA 1 PA 2 K3WWP 2 0131 AA4XX NC 102 NC 2 K3WWP 3 0132 K4BAI GA 5W GA 1 K3WWP 4 0133 AA3B PA 50W 1 Summary must contain the following: YOUR CALL - TOTAL QSO’S - MEMBER QSO’S - QSO POINTS - MULTS - SCORE - SK/BUG BONUS (IF ANY) - FINAL SCORE Be sure to indicate you used a straight key or a bug. Also don’t forget your comments for the Soapbox. Send log and score in plain text to KB3LFC. E-mail: yoel(at)arm-tek.net No attachments - keep the log and score in the body of the message. Awards: A certificate will be awarded to the top two scorers overall PLUS a certificate to the top score among those hams who have not finished First or Second in a previous Sprint, or won one of these top non-winner awards. For reference, previous 1st and 2nd place finishers are: AA4XX, K3WWP, K8NQQ, N9NE, W2LJ, W2SH. Previous non-winner certificates went to N2WN. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Why a straight key bonus and such odd starting times? Well, we like doing things differently in the NAQCC. We believe both of those ideas are unique among the sprints now held by several of the myriad QRP clubs now in existence. According to a poll, the club being CW only and having unique features are the main reasons hams are joining in bunches. We intend to honor the wishes of our members. -------------------- ooo -------------------- Date of info: April 5, 2005 - Source: NAQCC Web Site - http://www.arm-tek.net/~yoel/sprint_0405.html - -------------------- ooo -------------------- This contest is known to be supported by: GEN LOG by W3KM: http://www.qsl.net/w3km/gen_log.htm SM3CER Contest Service Software Page: http://www.sk3bg.se/contest/software.htm -------------------- ooo -------------------- MORE INFO: NAQCC Web Site: http://www.arm-tek.net/~yoel/ -------------------- ooo -------------------- Please send corrections/changes/new rules/results to: Jan-Eric Rehn - SM3CER sm3cer(at)contesting.com -------------------------------------------------- URL: http://www.sk3bg.se/contest/text/naqccwns.txt Copyright © 2005 Jan-Eric Rehn - SM3CER This page was created April 5, 2005 Most recent revision April 5, 2005 --------------------------------------------------
