Rules have been changed to emphasize that this is a QSO party, to make as many QSL/able contacts as possible, emphasize the rare modes/bands and remove the county hunter aspect and even the playing field by offering the same point structure to stations, Hawaiian and non-Hawaiian. Contest period has been changed to allow for more dark time to support the low bands better. Exchange format is unchanged, but counties are not multipliers. Only band and mode multipliers exist. Rules of Operation: 1. Operation will be permissible only in accordance with current FCC rules or your country’s rules. 2. The use of spotting nets, by way of repeaters, packet nodes, simplex operation, or any other means is permissible. 3. Operation on all bands and modes is permitted, except on 30 meters, 17 meters, and 12 meters. Stations may be worked once per band per mode. 4. The Hawaii QSO Party contest period will be: 07:00 UTC Aug 24, 2002 to 22:00 UTC Aug 25, 2002 for a total of 39 hours. Stations may work the entire contest period. 5. All logs must be submitted no later than 30 days after the contest. Dupe sheets are required for all stations submitting more than 200 contacts. 6. Any station not abiding by all of the rules will be disqualified. Exchanges: Non-Hawaiian stations use RS/T, State, Country, Canadian Province, or maritime region. Hawaii stations use RS/T and County (5 counties). Categories: • Single transmitter QRP: CW only, PHONE only, DIGITAL only or MIXED mode. • Single Operator: CW only, PHONE only, DIGITAL only or MIXED mode. • Multi op-Single transmitter: CW only, PHONE only, DIGITAL only or MIXED mode. • Multi-Multi: MIXED mode only. Scoring: Hawaii Stations: Count one (1) points per phone QSO with any station. Count two (2) points per CW/DIGITAL mode QSO with any station. Non-Hawaiian Stations: Count one (1) point per phone QSO with any Hawaii station. Count two (2) points per CW/DIGITAL mode QSO with any Hawaii station. Band Multipliers: All Stations: 10, 15 and 20 m: All QSO points as above. 40 m: Count 2 points per Phone QSO, 4 points per CW/Digital QSO. 80 m: Count 4 points per Phone QSO, 8 points per CW/Digital QSO. 160 m: Count 8 points per Phone QSO, 16 points per CW/Digital QSO. Score: The total QSO points is your raw score. Bonus Points: Work Club Station KH6J on any band/mode and add one hundred fifty (150) bonus points to your RAW SCORE for each contact. Example: Work KH6J on 15 m SSB, 15 m CW, 15 m RTTY, and 20 m SSB = 600 bonus points. Final Final Score: Add bonus points to your raw score. Suggested Frequencies and Modes: CW - 30 kHz up; Novice/Technician Plus 30 kHz up. PHONE - 25 kHz up in General segments and 28.300 - 28.500 MHz. RTTY - XX.080 to XX.090 for 10, 15, 20 m; 7025 - 7045 and 7080 - 7090 on 40 m; 3525 - 3535 and 3560 - 3580 on 80 m; 1800 - 1810 on 160 m. PSK - XX.070 +/- 5 kHz on 10 through 40 m; NO 80 m/160 m. Administration: The Koolau ARC shall oversee the receipt of logs and has the final authority to resolve issues relating to rules of the contest. KARC shall be responsible for the issuance of all Hawaii QSO Party awards. Send logs and summary sheet via mail, disk or e-mail by Sep 30, 2002.
