::.  RULES SEANET Contest 2007 The organisers of the SEANET Convention 2007 invite all radio amateurs and Short Wave Listeners (SWL’s) to participate in the SEANET 2007 Contest This contest is associated with the 35th Annual SEANET Convention to be held in Lampang, Thailand, November 8-11, 2007. It is suggested that we operate around certain preferred frequencies so that is easy to find the SEANET stations. Please see these frequencies in Paragraph 3. All stations may use Internet or Packet Cluster "Spotting" including self-spotting. There are some changes to the basis on the counting of the multiplier on each band and the allowance of Packet Cluster self-spotting.

1. PURPOSE OF CONTEST:

To promote two-way amateur radio communication within the SEANET Region and between the SEANET region and the rest of the world using various modes. Special SWL rules see Paragraph 13.

2. CONTEST TIMES & DATES:

Start 1200 UTC 2rd June 2007 Finish 1200 UTC 3th June 2007 (24 hours)

3. BANDS/FREQUENCIES:

160, 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters (No WARC bands). Frequencies should be used as appropriate to the mode and station licence but centered on the following frequencies where possible: CW - 3525, 7025, 14025, 21025, 28025. SSB - 7090, 14320, 21320, 28320. Other bands/modes as per international assignments.

7. REPORTING:

RST/RS report plus serial numbers starting with 001 and increased by one for each successive contact.

8. SCORING RULES:

SEANET stations (including SWLs) may contact/log World-Wide AND SEANET stations, AND stations within own country. World-Wide stations (including SWLs) may ONLY contact/log SEANET stations. 9. SCORING:

For contacts between WORLD-WIDE and SEANET Stations = 10 points For contacts between SEANET stations in DIFFERENT SEANET countries / entities = 10 points For contacts between SEANET stations in the SAME country / entity = 5 points WORLDWIDE stations can only claim multipliers for DXCC entities within the SEANET Region - See entity list above. SEANET stations can claim multipliers for DXCC entities WORLDWIDE including the SEANET Region and own country. Each multiplier counts once only regardless of band or mode. Note - for mixed-mode entries QSO points can be claimed with the same station on each of the three modes, and for multi-band entries - QSO points can be claimed for QSOs with the same station on different bands. Note that only one contact per mode is allowed on each band with the same station. E.g. A "Voice" mode contact can only be made once per band with the same station. SSB or FM can be used for the contact, but points cannot be claimed for an SSB and an FM contact with the same station. Similarly on digital, any digital mode can be used to make a digital mode contact with the same station, but points cannot be claimed for more than one digital mode with the same station. Scores should be calculated as follows: For single-band entries: Multiply total QSO points x total multipliers. E.g. 10 QSOs x 10 points = 100 QSO points x 2 mults = 200 Points. For multi-band entries: Add QSO points for all bands then add the unique multipliers. Multiply total QSO points by total unique multipliers. (Multipliers count like the WPX Contest i.e. once only, and not once per band, and not once per mode). A sample log is shown to illustrate how multi-band scores are claimed. 10. RESTRICTIONS:

Contacts on cross modes or cross bands will not count. Operators are not allowed to transmit two or more signals at the same time on the same band. Entries which contain errors or unmarked duplicates are liable to a reduction of points. Any entrant who uses methods contrary to the spirit of the contest may be subject to disqualification. The decision of the SEANET contest organisers shall be final. All stations may use Internet or Packet Cluster "Spotting". Multi-band, multi-operator stations must not use more than one transmitter / transceiver at the same time for contacts, except that a second receiver / transceiver may be used for "spotting" only. The "spotting" station must not transmit or make any kind of contact.

11. ENTRIES, LOGS AND SUMMARY SHEETS:

All entries should be in the form of written or computerised logs and summary sheets showing claimed scores band by band plus the total score claimed must be signed by the person responsible for the entry. Entries made on computer diskettes or by Email can use ASCII (text) format or contest software such as SD (Super Duper) or TR (N6TR). These two programs can be configured for the SEANET format. Paul O’Kane (EI5DI) the creator of Super Duper Contest Software is kindly making a special offer for the contest. The demo version of SD (which can be downloaded from the Web-site www.ei5di.com) is fully-working in many contests including RSGB, ARRL DX, ARI, Helvetia, SPDX, King of Spain - these are all contests with (Areas, Zones, Counties, Provinces, Districts etc.) as multipliers. The demo version doesn’t support contests with country multipliers, including SEANET. However, he will send a key file, by email, to anyone who sends $5 USD and requests a key file for the SEANET Contest (to 36 Coolkill, Dublin 18, Ireland). This is one eighth of the normal registration fee. * 12. AWARDS:

The winners of each category will be awarded a trophy, plaque or souvenir of the SEANET Convention, provided at least three entries are received in the category and the winner has made at least 10 valid contacts. The top three entries in each category will receive a certificate, providing more than three entries are received, otherwise a certificate will be awarded to the winner only.

13. SPECIAL SWL RULES:

Only stations taking part in the Contest may be logged for scoring purposes. Logs should show in columns: Date Time Mode Band Callsign of "Station Heard" Complete exchange sent by this station Callsign of station being worked A RS(T) report on "Station Heard" at SWLs QTH Points and multiplier If both sides of a contest contact are heard they may be claimed as separate stations and the callsigns have to appear in the "Station Heard" column. A station may only appear once per band as station heard. In the column "Station Worked" the same station may not be logged more than 10 times per band. Good Luck in the Contest!
