Frank, W2YK: A great time was had in my first BARTG contest. My daughter did complain a bit about those warbly tones on the telephone, but she didn’t realize it was me until late in the contest!! Tom, WA8RPK: Good contest, got started OK, but then computer went crazy so lost abt 1 hr. Sound like a lot of guys and gals were on, still having trouble copying some people. Rain was pretty bad here and the cold weather didnt help. Tnx to all that worked me and to the BARTG guys for having the contest. Frank Hunt, ZL2BR: This was a stop/start contest for me this year. Had about 12 operating sessions which totalled about 18 hours, had 8 hours sleep each night as well! Strange conditions, 10m was best, 20m was very quiet, and could only find a couple of signals on 40m around my evening greyline times. Norman Gomm, VK6GOM: I like the extra challenge of sending and receiving the longer exchange. Steve, G3UFY: My first entry for this event. I was amazed at the amount of DX active. What with work and sleep I missed out on the best times, but I’ll try to be there next time. Very 73 to all. FY5FU: Lot of fun except logging in Cabrillo for the first time. RIG: Kenwood TS870S and 10 dB gain with FB prefix! HKØGU (Operator Gerd, DL7VOG): I had a lot of fun, but expected some more QSOs. Condx were so so. Sometimes great, sometimes poor... 7 or 8 QSOs per hour don’t bring tears of joy !! Met many good old friends, lots of 001 QSOs and probably brought some guys a "new one". Martin, 4Z8EE/OK1EE: Good condx on Sunday afternoon and evening. I was mad :-) when I did QSO with TK5MH, CN8LI, 8P6SH etc. and many US about midnight local time. I didn’t know this, because till now I’ve used 7 MHz only. I must prepare other antennas. When I was in France I ended on 7th place in BARTG Sprint, but now I am in Tel Aviv. One person, another DXCC country. TNX. Bob, 5B4AGN: First shot at a RTTY contest. A LOT of fun! Unfortunately not enough time available to make a serious entry. I used Writelog and a Hal DXP38 with a TS870 xcvr to a C31XR at 22m, an XM 240 at 26m and an 80m dipole at 22m. Bob, ZL2AMI: Equinox propagation was interesting this year. 10m provided almost 24 Hour contact. I missed again the African Continent! Thanks to John and BARTG for a great Contest. Riho, ES7AAZ: Good condx on 10m, a very great contest! Donald, VE1AOE: Highlights - being called by XRØX, C31PM and HKØGU Special thanks to BARTG for sponsoring this contest. John, W9ILY: Not ever enough time for ham radio. Using autosave really saved me when I encountered a "disk write error" and all contacts disappeared! John, WA9ALS: Thanks for a great contest! This was my best effort in any RTTY contest! The continent mult always adds interest to this contest. Paul, VA3PC: Too bad work keeps interrupting the contests...hi. Really wanted to make 300 contacts....but missed by one. CU next year! Pat, VA7XX: Thanks to BARTG for a great RTTY contest. Conditions faded quickly nearing the end. Perhaps do to with the flare. However lots of participation on all continents, and had a great time.
A very good contest this year judging by the comments received and the amount of stations taking part. Scores in the all band classes were about the same as last year overall, but it was harder work for the single band operators on the higher bands. Logkeeping was better than 2001 and no disqualifications were necessary. Contest software authors still manage to mess things up and cause a few problems with the logs, but of course it is never their fault! Maybe they could send me a sample log for checking before the contests next year (and before they claim to support our contests). Congratulations to the winners, and commiseration to those who just missed out, especially my fellow countrymen at MW2I who made the same QSO total as the winners in Multi-Single.
