In 1994 the EU Sprint Gang (I2UIY, OK2FD, DL6RAI, and G4BUO) organized the first European Sprint contests. In 2001 there have been some rule changes, introducing an awards programme and bringing the Spring Sprints forward in the calendar. The BIG news is that we decided to award a certificate to the winners in each country but this is not all. Three nice plaques will be awarded for the top three scores from all four contests combined.

This was a new Award for the 2001 European Sprint Contests and the operator with the highest combined score, having entered all four European Sprint contests in 2001 is Ted, LY2OX. He is followed by UA2FB and UV5U (the operator was UX1UA). All three operators will receive Plaques donated by the Eu Sprint Committee. The LY operators have a great record in the Eu Sprint Contests and Sam LY4AA nearly qualified for a plaque from just three outings. The table below shows all those who entered three or all four of the contests in 2001. The Committee is very grateful for the support of these stations. Pl. Some places such as EA, SP and S5 that have lots of entries in the big contests like CQ WW have not made many entries in the Sprint. Give it a try and you might win a certificate as the top in your country! The more activity we get in the Sprints, the more fun there is for everybody.
