Workin muutamia QSOja Ten-Tec hamfestilta Tennesseesta lyhyella hamstickilla. Kokeilin myos lauantaina iltapaivalla kotia ajellessa (1900Z ->), mutta Great Smoky Mountainin vuoristotiet aiheuttivat liikaa QSB:ta... ja rattihommia :)

PS. Paasin kopaisemaan uutta Orion rigia pikaisesti. Mielenkiintoinen peli. Main-RX pelkastaan hamssibandeille ja molemmissa vastaanottimissa identtinen DSP. Ominaisuuksia sen verran, etta useimmat kokeilijat eivat nayttaneet saavan aanta ulos, heh...

Living just 90 km south of the Scandinavian border, SAC always is a big challenge on the high bands. This year, my new 11-element Yagi Type 11-3 from OptiBeam did a great job in giving me good signals from the north.

Claimed Score:

Thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Scandinavian Activity Contest seriously for the first time since the 1980s! It was great to say hello to all the good friends I made at WRTC in July - and to my old Swedish friends (I was G4JVG/SMØ on and off between 1982 and 1987).

High points: 5-band QSOs with many stations; 3-band QSOs with JW (JW5X on 10, 15 & 20), and just 1-band QSO with OY (OY9JD 10m); low points: nothing heard from TF, OX, JX (or OJØ - not expected, though).

Was interesting to hear my fellow UK WRTC visitor Lee, GØMTN, give exactly the same serial number - 158 - as me in consecutive QSOs with OH6Y on 40m! I didn’t hear GØMTN after that, though - what happened, Lee?!

Rig: IC-781 + Henry 2KD Classic amp to A3S beam at 10m and 40/80m Carolina Windom, also at 10m.

Steve, G4JVG

Glad to get on and give out a few QSOs to the Scandinavians as a way of saying "THANKS" for the hospitality in July at WRTC. Especially nice to work our WRTC station host (Jari, OH1BOI) and ever-vigilant referee (Tord, SM3EVR at SK3W).

Went out to dinner with teammate K1AR Saturday night for the sweep.

Running HP on SSB seems to mess up TVs, phones, fans, and most other things so went LP, but that is a real ordeal with just a vertical. Fun anyway and surprised how many stns heard me with 100 W and a vertical.

During the 2002 SAC SSB event, while testing my new Cushcraft 40-2CD @ 24M. Observations were made between 02:50 and 03:10 UTC. Generally, a 5 to 10 db signal increase was noted on all SAC signals after 04:00 UTC.

If your station is listed above but do not find N1RR in your log, that may be because you were not listening up between 7150 to 7300.

Took a couple quick breaks from the RTTY contest to work some of the boys. It’s much tougher on SSB with hidden antennas and low power than CW.

Humorous moment when I confused the heck out of LA2Z when I called immedietely after N2NC. He thought I was correcting my call at first. Was able to straighten him out and warn him of N2NT, N2NU, ETC.

Huge signals on 40... but many of the guys weren’t listening split.

Casual effort here while VE6WQ was running CK6WQ in the RTTY contest on 20m (hence no SAC Q’s on 20m). Great conditions on 80, heard lots but was only able to log SK3W, OZ1DD and OZ1HXQ.

Thanks again to all Scandinavian operators for good activity, also to RA3CW and LY1DR for nice racing at night on 80m and 40m! I hope LY1DR will send also their score to this reflector.

Very good, that the 10m band was open for local QSO’s. Funny, but I lost the electrical power network in my home for 4 hours (02:00 GMT - 06:00 GMT) and it was no possible to work in the contest... May be the 400 QSO’s were be really...

Thanks for fun and nice contest, see You all again in 2003!
