other stations must work Quebec stations only.
No station may be contacted more than once per band and mode with exception to mobile stations with giving a new multiplier.
The following stations shall qualify as Quebec stations for the purposes of the QQP and may compete in one of the Quebec categories:
- Any fixed amateur station licensed in Quebec with callsign prefix of VA2 or VE2 located within the boundaries of the province for the duration of the QQP.
- Any mobile station licensed in Quebec with callsign prefix of VA2 or VE2 who identifies as "/M" and is located within the boundaries of the province for the duration of their participation in the QQP.

|
Bands to use for the Quebec QSO Party are 80, 40, 20, 15, 10, 6 and 2 meters.
Phone contacts are defined as AM, FM or SSB.
Digital modes are RTTY or PSK and
CW contacts are in Morse exclusively.
No contacts are allowed through repeaters, EchoLink, IRLP, etc... Solicitation of contacts through a repeater or any other means is not accepted.
Special note for 2 meter FM contacts:
All contacts must be made within the simplex portion of the band with exception to the calling frequency of 146.520 Mhz which must remain clear at all times. |
Stations calling CQ during the contest must specify
"QUEBEC QSO PARTY" on phone or "QQP" on CW or digital modes. |
Each amateur has to receive and send the following information for each contact made: an RS(T) signal report and Province, State or DXCC Country. Quebec stations send the Quebec region according to their location. See the last page of the present rules for information on the Quebec geographical regions and their abbreviations.
Special notes for mobile stations:
- Each Quebec mobile station shall transmit their geographical region according to their location at the moment the contact was made. Logs must show sent regions for each contact. Each time a mobile station changes regions, the station must move at least 200 meters from the boundary.
- Each participant in the QQP may contact a mobile station more than once per band and mode if and only if the mobile station is transmitting a new multiplier.
|
Score one (1) point for all valid phone contacts,
two (2) points for CW or digital QSOs.
Each contact with one of the official RAQI stations (VE2RIO, VE2RAQI, VA2RAQI) is worth 10 points regardless of band and mode used. |
- For Quebec stations: number of Quebec regions, Provinces, States, Countries and ITU zones (from Quebec maritime mobile stations only) contacted per band and mode.
- For all other stations: number of Quebec regions and ITU Zones (from Quebec maritime mobile stations only) contacted per band and mode.
Scoring example:
A station has 200 QSO points and who has contacted 16 Quebec regions and one Quebec maritime mobile station has a total of 3400 points. [200 × (16+1)] |
Each participant in the Quebec QSO Party has to enter one category of competition. Scoring will be measured only against stations within the same category. They are as follows:
- VE2-VHF: Single operator working only on 6 and/or 2 meters; for Quebec stations only
- VE2-SOAB: Single operator, all bands and modes; for Quebec stations.
- VE2-QRP: Single operator, all bands and modes, power restricted to maximum 5 watts; for Quebec stations.
- VE2-MULTI: Multiple operators, one or more transmitters, all bands and modes, without power restrictions; for Quebec stations.
- NA-VHF: Single operator working only on 6 and/or 2 meters; for North American stations.
- NA-SOAB: Single operator, all bands and modes; for North American Stations only.
- NA-QRP: Single operator, all bands and modes with power restricted to maximum 5 watts; for North American stations.
- NA-MULTI: Multiple operators, one or more transmitters, all bands and modes without power restrictions; for North American Stations.
- DX-SOAB: Single operator, all bands and modes; for stations outside North America.
- DX-MULTI: Multiple operators, without any restrictions; for stations outside North America.
Notes on categories:
- Single operator shall be defined as one single, licensed, amateur radio operator handling all radio functions and on-air activity. Assistance of another person for the exclusive task of logging does not require change to the MULTI categories.
- Unless specifically limited in the category description, all stations shall operate with 150 Watts or less. Any station operating with over 150 Watts has to compete in one of the MULTI categories.
- Club or team participation is always welcome, however all transmitters have to be within a 300-meter diameter circle or within the limits of a single property; whichever is smaller.
- VHF categories are to invite and allow participation from amateur radio operators who do not hold HF privileges. However, all QQP participants can use these bands.
- The use of DX clusters is allowed only in the MULTI categories and self-spotting is never allowed.
