 PILE-UP by G4ZFE Revision History

[ Known Problems ] [ Copyright ]

From version 0.5 to version 1.10

Version 1.10

  1. Whoops! Running competition mode with only one station in the pileup did not display the results (> 1 station worked OK). Thanks to DK5CI for reporting this bug.

Version 1.09

  1. Fixed bug in competition mode where duplicate callsigns are scored more than once (only affects version 1.08) - thanks to GW4BVJ for the bug report.
  2. Local High Score table can be imported/exported to/from a file. This is useful if Pile Up! has been installed on more than one machine - thanks to IK0HBN for the suggestion.
  3. Competition mode results can be sorted by clicking on the column headers.
  4. Removed dependency on the Microsoft msvcirt.dll.

Version 1.06

  2. Now built using Visual C++ 5.0.

Version 1.05

  1. Fixed problem where results were not being displayed in competition mode (only affects a small number of installations).
  2. As requested, display CW speed of each sent callsign.
  3. Improved random number generation in RUFZ mode.
  4. Fixed display problem in practice mode with large number of stations in pileup.

Version 1.04

  1. Added a "convention mode" for use in the 1997 RSGB IOTA/HF Convention. This mode allows scores from different users to be saved in a sorted ASCII file for printing at the end of the convention.
  2. Added a facility to clear the contents of the High Score table.
  3. Increased maximum CW speed from 60 to 80 WPM (I had two requests for this :-).
  4. Modifications to allow the installation program to fit onto a single 1.44MB diskette for easier distribution.
  5. Changed volume control from slider control to up/down control.
  6. Fixed the "Browse" button in the "Startup" tab of the options dialog.
  7. Fixed minor inaccuracies in the Help file.

  2. Increase number of entries in High Score table from 6 to 10.
  3. Increase size of callsign database from 3000 to 6000.

Version 1.02. Bug fix.

  1. "Read High Scores" should only update the first 5 values in the High Score table (6th value is user’s own).
  2. "Read High Scores" should not add duplicate entries to the user’s High Score table.
  3. "Send High Score" should send the highest score for the user not the highest score in the table (which may be G4ZFE!).

Known Problems:

  • The fuzzy logic used in competition mode to pair up RX and TX callsigns requires fine tuning.
  • Occassionally when a pileup is stopped mid-flow the sound card produces "strange" noises.
  • CW spacing in RUFZ mode is not perfect.
  • Selecting a large number of callsigns in competition mode (say > 500) will result in the program taking a number of seconds to score the entry.
  • Upgrading from a pre v1.05 version of Pile Up! to a current version using "pileup.zip" may not work. This is because the run-time DLLs have changed. Please de-install the program and install from fresh using the latest pileup.exe program.
