If you use only a straight key for the entire sprint, multiply your final score by 2.
If you use only a bug for the entire sprint, multiply your final score by 1.5. |
Each month we will try to have a "special category".
This months special category will include a certificate awarded to the top score made with a rig more than 25-years old. An award will also be issued to the top score using milliwatt power. |
You worked the following:
14 members (2 pts each) = 14 × 2 = 28 QSO points
6 non-members (1 pt each) = 6 × 1 = 6 QSO points
Thats 28 + 6 = 34 QSO points
Those contacts came from:
8 USA states (1 mult each state) = 8 × 1 = 8 mults
2 Canadian provinces (1 mult each province) = 2 × 1 = 2 mults
1 XE, 2 EA8s & 1 DL6 (2 mults each country) = 3 × 2 = 6 mults
Thats 8 + 2 + 6 = 16 mults
Now simply multiply QSO points × multipliers:
34 × 16 = 544 points
Did you use?
Straight Key - then multiply 544 × 2 = 1088 as your final score
Bug - then multiply 544 × 1.5 = 816 as your final score
Neither - then 544 is your final score |
Log must contain one line for each QSO containing the following info:
YOUR CALL - QSO NUMBER - TIME - STATION WORKED - HIS SPC - HIS NR OR POWER - INDICATION OF A NEW SPC (# OR SPC NAME) - POINTS (2 OR 1)
Example:
Call Nr Time Stn SPC Num Mul Pts
K3WWP 1 0130 KB3LFC PA 1 PA 2
K3WWP 2 0131 AA4XX NC 102 NC 2
K3WWP 3 0132 K4BAI GA 5W GA 1
K3WWP 4 0133 AA3B PA 50W 1
Summary must contain the following:
YOUR CALL - TOTAL QSOS - MEMBER QSOS - QSO POINTS - MULTS - SCORE - SK/BUG BONUS (IF ANY) - FINAL SCORE
Be sure to indicate you used a straight key or a bug. Also include a brief description of your antenna(s) used in the sprint.
Example from the sample log above:
CALL QSOs Mem Pts Mul Sco Bon Final Score
K3WWP 4 2 6 3 18 ×2 36
Straight key. Attic 110 end fed random wire antenna.
A logging program that is programmed for the sprints, called GenLog is available from http://www.qsl.net/w3km/gen_log.htm. An up-to-the-minute data file for the program can be obtained here. It is a zip file containing the membership list and instructions on how to use it with GenLog.
It would also be interesting to us if you send a description of your rig, key, antenna, and power used. Also dont forget your comments for the Soapbox.
Send log and score in plain text to KB3LFC.

A certificate will be awarded to the top two scorers overall PLUS a certificate to the top score among those hams who have not finished First or Second in a previous Sprint, or won one of these top non-winner awards.
For reference, previous 1st and 2nd place finishers are:
AA4XX, K3WWP, K8NQQ, N9NE, W2LJ, W2SH.
Previous non-winner certificates went to N2WN.
Why a straight key bonus and such odd starting times?
Well, we like doing things differently in the NAQCC. We believe both of those ideas are unique among the sprints now held by several of the myriad QRP clubs now in existence. According to a poll, the club being CW only and having unique features are the main reasons hams are joining in bunches. We intend to honor the wishes of our members. |
