 1. Object:

For amateurs to exchange QSO information with as many Louisiana stations as possible on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10, 6 and 2 meter bands.

Louisiana stations work everyone else.

1.1 Suggested CW frequencies

1.1.1 HF - 1.840, 3.540, 7.040, 14.040, 21.040, 28.040

1.1.2 VHF - 50.095 and 144.050

1.2 Suggested PHONE frequencies

1.2.1 HF - 1.865, 3.865, 7.265, 14.265, 21.365, 28.465

1.2.2 VHF - 50.135 and 144.210

 2. Date and Contest Period:

The Louisiana QSO Party operating times will be

from 1500 UTC on the 12th of February
to 0300 UTC on the 13th of February, 2005

2.1 All stations may operate the entire contest period.

 3. Entry Categories:

(Non-Louisiana and Louisiana)

Non-Louisiana stations compete only against non-Louisiana stations.
Louisiana stations compete only against Louisiana stations.

3.1 There will be 4 categories.

3.1.1 Phone only.

3.1.2 CW only.

3.1.3 Mixed Mode (Phone and CW).

3.1.4 Rover (Louisiana stations only).

 4. Contest Exchange:

4.1 Non-Louisiana stations send: Call, RST, and S/P/C (state / province / Maritime region / or ’DX entities’).

4.2 Louisiana stations send: Call, RST, and parish.

4.2.1 Use the Parish abbreviation list provided at this web site.

 5. Scoring:

5.1 QSO points:

5.1.1 Count two points for each complete two-way phone QSO.

5.1.2 Count four points for each two-way CW QSO.

5.2 Multipliers: (Count per band/mode)

5.2.1 Non-Louisiana stations: Louisiana parishes (64 possible per band/mode).

5.2.2 Louisiana stations: S/P/C (state / province / Maritime region / ’DX entities’ per band/mode).

5.3 Final Score:

5.3.1 Non-Louisiana stations: Multiply QSO points by total multipliers (the sum of Louisiana parishes per band/mode).

5.3.2 Louisiana stations: Multiply QSO points by total multipliers (the sum of US states / provinces / Maritime regions / ’DX entities’ per band/mode).

5.3.3 Rovers Multiply QSO points by total multipliers (S/P/C states / provinces / Maritime regions / ’DX entities’) plus 50 point bonus for each parish activated.

5.3.4 Rover stations must clearly indicate parishes of operation in log. When changing parishes clearly show where old parish ends and a new parish of operation begins.

 6. Miscellaneous:

6.1 Multipliers: CW/Phone QSO’s count as separate multipliers.

6.2 No repeater contacts allowed.

6.3 All stations may be worked once on CW and once on Phone on each band.

6.4 The list of parishes and accepted abbreviations is available at http://laqso.w5yl.org (Remark by SM3CER: The list can also be found on this page).

6.5 100 bonus points will be awarded to any station in or out of Louisiana who works W5YL (W5YL will be operating a club station during the contest).

6.6 Any station working W5YL will receive 100 one time only bonus points.

6.7 Log sheets are available on http://laqso.w5yl.org/

 7. Awards:

Certificates will be awarded to:
7.1 The highest-scoring station in each category.

7.2 Any station making five or more contacts may receive a participation certificate by mailing a SASE and a copy of the station log to the following address: LA QSO Party, 508 Hache St, HOUMA, LA 70364, USA

7.3 Certificate will be awarded to the Louisiana highest-scoring rover station.

7.4 The Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club sponsors the Worked All Parishes award. See the rules at: http://www.lsu.edu/brarc/Awards.htm

 8. Log submission:

8.1 All logs that are generated using a computer must submit an ASCII text file of the log information in ARRL file format. Paper logs in lieu of available electronic file are not acceptable substitutes.

8.1.1 Hand written paper logs are acceptable.

8.2 All entries for this contest must be e-mailed or postmarked by March 15, 2005.

Submissions require a summary sheet with all required information (including exchange sent, category entered, and S/P/C state/province/Maritime region/or ’DXentity’) and log file in ARRL file format sent as attachments to the email (see General Rules for specific file format).

8.4 Paper entries must be submitted on current ARRL entry forms or on a reasonable facsimile and mailed to LAQSO Party Contest Committee.

8.6 See "General Rules for All ARRL Contests" and "General Rules for ARRL Contests on bands below 30 MHz (HF)" in the November 2000 issue of QST. Where a conflict occurs between the Louisiana QSO Party Rules and the ARRL rules, the Louisiana QSO Party Rules shall take precedence.
