FYBO Winter QRP Field Day

Please respect the weather and your own limitations!

 Date/Time:

1600 UTC Feb 7 - 0400 UTC Feb 8, 1998. (Operate all 12 hours).

 Modes:

QRP HF only.

CW (5 W max), SSB (10 W max). QRP calling freqs (no WARC).

 Categories:

  • Single Op (Home/Field)
  • Multi Op (Home/Field)
  • Novice/Tech+

 Exchange:

RS(T), state/province/DXCC country, first name, power out, and temperature (Fahrenheit) at OPERATOR’S POSITION.
Indoor stations must report INDOOR temperature.

Example: "579 AZ Joe 2W 40F"

 Points:

Work stations once per band/mode. Score 1 point per QSO.

 Multipliers:

  • SPCs (states/provinces/DXCC countries).
    Each counts only once overall.
  • Field Location: x 4 (Field per ARRL FD definition)
  • Alternative Power: x 2
  • QRPp (less than 1 W): x 2
  • Lowest Operating Temp (at OP’S POSITION):
                   65+ F = x 1
                 50-64 F = x 2
                 40-49 F = x 3
                 30-39 F = x 4
                 20-29 F = x 5
              Below 20 F = x 6
    

 Final score:

QSOs x SPCs x Temp Multi (x Field) (x Alt Pwr) (x QRPp).

Howdy Folks,

Here’s a repost of the FYBO ’98 rules. We ScQRPions have only one goal for FYBO - EVERYONE HAVE FUN! But please be safe too. I’ll be snow camping this year (along with others), so please plan on sending a little RF this way to warm us up. Last year the only thing keeping me from succumbing to hypothermia was pumping the straight key. Well, that and the Pop Tarts that Mike (NQ7K) brought along. :-)
