Carnavales de Tenerife 1999

19th International Contest "Carnavales de Tenerife 1999"

Organized by the Unión de Radioaficionados de Tenerife
(Tenerife Amateur Radio Union), EA8URT
Sponsored by the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife,
and the Island Council of Tenerife.

RULES FOR STATIONS OUTSIDE THE PROVINCE OF
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE

 Type of Contest:

International.
Stations in the world must contact stations in the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife with special prefixes ED8 and EF8.

 Dates:

Starts at 1600 UTC November 21, 1998
and ends at 1600 UTC the 22nd.

 Bands:

10, 15, 20, 40 and 80 meter bands, within the IARU recommended segments.

 Mode:

Phone SSB, One-Operator, One-Transmitter, one signal on the air. Cross contacts are not allowed.

 Call:

"CQ Concurso Carnavales de Tenerife 1999".

 Exchange:

RS report plus serial number starting with 001. The time is not exchanged, but must be written on the log. Only one contact per band per day is valid.

 Points:

Participants will credit points for each contact with the following Special Stations:

  • ED8URT: 5 points
  • All other ED8 stations: 1 point
  • EF8 stations: 2 points

SWL will credit 1 point for each official exchange copied, limited to 10 contacts from the same official station in the same band and day.

 Final Score:

Total points credited.

 Awards:

World Champion (non EA): Diploma, Trophy and Travel
Continental Champion: Diploma and Plaque
National Champion: Diploma and Trophy
Champion in each EA district: Diploma and Plaque
EC Champion: Diploma and Trophy
EC Sub-Champion: Diploma and Plaque
SWL Champion: Diploma and Plaque

Diploma to every participant obtaining at least 100 points. EC stations must obtain at least 75 points. A participant must reach at least the Diploma score to qualify for a Trophy or Plaque.

The Travel consists of the passage and stay (for the winner) for seven days during the Carnival of Tenerife 1999.

Previous years Champions may only qualify to Plaque or Trophy, not the Travel. Any participant may only qualify to one Award - the highest one.

 Logs:

Must be made on URE or similar forms, separated by bands, enclosing a Summary Sheet. Send it to:

Logs must be received not after December 22, 1998. Every log received after that date will only be considered as a check log.

 Penalties:

Every log with non-marked duplicate contacts will be penalized as follows:

One (1) duplicate: 10% from the total score
Two (2) duplicates: 20% from the total score
Three (3) duplicates: 30% from the total score
More than 3 duplicates mean disqualification

Every participant must accept these Rules, as well as the final classification, which is unappealable.
